The RD&E Fast Track Team is responsible for maintenance and optimization of the current product portfolio. This Fast Track Senior Formulation Chemist has the primary role of managing the North American Food & Beverage product formulation portfolios. They will interface with Marketing portfolio management to identify product needs, implement portfolio-driven product changes, and maintain the formula data record in our Product Life Cycle System (PLM). Other responsibilities will include product formulation, cost savings projects, raw material qualification, test method development, supply chain support and technical customer support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possess, maintain and continuously expand an expert understanding of Food & Beverage portfolio formulations and the regulations governing their use in North America.
Use QC and analytical tests used to characterize formulated products.
Perform appropriate performance tests (cleaning, compatibility, gloss, etc.) to determine product suitability for proposed application.
New product development and existing product improvement and testing; Investigate and implement avenues to simplify formulations and improve efficiency
Create and maintain the portfolio formulation record in PLM with a high degree of accuracy
Interface with multiple divisions including Supply Chain, RD&E, Sales, and Marketing as well as external suppliers and third-party testing laboratories
Maintain a clean and safe working environment; adhere to existing safety protocols
Ensure compliance with current and future regulations and corporate policies.
Formulate new products and reformulate existing products as needed
Investigate customer complaints in a timely manner
Communicate with stakeholders regularly by sharing information, creating technical reports, and delivering presentations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related area
At least 5 years formulation experience in any of the following areas: industrial and institutional cleaning or Food & Beverage products, household products, or similar surfactant-based systems
Hands on chemist with a successful history of new product development and existing product improvement and testing. Ability to investigate and implement avenues to simplify formulations and improve efficiency
Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills and ability to present results clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences including externally to government agencies and industry trade associations
Solid understanding and application of experimental design, creative problem-solving techniques, and research statistics
Action oriented with ability to work in a fast-paced environment should be able to multitask with proven follow-through and adherence to changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to troubleshoot issues and formulate on the fly
Ability to work effectively with a team and independently with minimal supervision
Understanding of chemical regulations relevant to Solenis portfolios with specialized knowledge of EPA/FDA regulations and Good Laboratory Practices relevant to the registration, manufacture and sale of disinfectants, food contact products, hand sanitizers and cosmetics.
Capable of training others in all areas of their responsibility and directing the work of technicians
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related degree
Experience with, or knowledge of, product manufacturing scale-up
Experience in the Food & Beverage chemical industry, nice to have

The expected compensation range for this position is between $75,900.00 and $126,500.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
