Overview
This client is an industry-leading company thats leading the way in neuroscience-focused drug discovery and development. The Client is expanding its R&D chemistry capabilities and is seeking a skilled Computational Chemist to join their growing team. In this role, you will apply computational methodologies to design optimized compounds with balanced properties across drug discovery programs, from early lead identification to late-stage optimization. You will work closely with medicinal chemists, DMPK scientists, structural biologists, and pharmacologists to drive impactful compound design.
Responsibilities:
- Apply structure-based design and molecular modeling techniques to support drug discovery
- Contribute to the development of in-silico modeling platforms within the chemistry department
- Generate productive hypotheses using protein-ligand docking and SAR analysis
- Develop and maintain machine learning/AI models for DMPK and in-vitro biology endpoints
- Facilitate compound design using predictive computational technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret experimental results and guide compound optimization
- Identify and implement new computational methods to enhance the Clients drug discovery platform
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve lead optimization and identify development candidates
- Stay current with scientific literature and integrate innovations into the computational platform
- Engage stakeholders across research functions to deliver and exchange key results
Qualifications:
- BS in Chemistry with 5+ years of relevant experience in computational chemistry, cheminformatics, or protein-ligand modeling
- OR MS/MA in Chemistry with 3+ years of similar experience
- OR 3+ years of post-Ph.D. experience in a related field
- Strong knowledge of structure-based design, molecular modeling software (e.g., Schrodinger, CCG, OpenEye)
- Experience with machine learning/AI predictive modeling and cheminformatics tools
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
