The Protein Homeostasis (PH) IPS team is a part of the Informatics and Predictive Sciences division at BMS, with a strong focus on early-stage portfolio-enabling activities. A critical aspect of our work is to understand and contextualize data on target biology, so as to make informed decisions about a target's relevance to human disease, with an emphasis on cancer. This position will support efforts to harmonize omics and other datasets commonly used for target evaluation, along with performing statistical analyses (eg, differential mRNA expression, survival analysis, etc.) on these data, along with helping to build and maintain portals where these data will be visualized. In addition, this role will also involve analysis/curation of proprietary compound screening datasets (primarily proteomics) that enable identification of new hits from BMS chemical libraries.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile and harmonize datasets used for target evaluation (eg, TCGA, DepMap, GTEx, etc.)
  • Generate pre-computed statistical analyses on these datasets (eg, lineage-specific sensitivity in DepMap, predictive biomarkers, differential expression analysis, Pathway enrichment, survival analysis, etc.)
  • Disseminate both harmonized data and precomputed results via BMS data portals
  • Assist with curation, compilation, and standardization of screening datasets generated by internal and external collaborators
  • Develop/implement ways to visualize results

Requirements:

  • Strong coding skills in either Python (preferred) and/or R
  • Background in bioinformatics - experience working with RNA-seq and other NGS data
  • Experience with commonly used cancer datasets - eg, TCGA
  • Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, biology, computer science, or a related field, with 3+ years of hands-on bioinformatics experience after graduation, in industry or academia
  • Strongly preferred - experience in cancer
  • Preferred - experience with drug development/discovery

Skill level - Intermediate (3+ years of experience in an industry or academic setting + a bachelor's degree)

Other requirements - Hybrid work; role requires onsite presence at least 50% of the time

Top Skills:

  • Compile and harmonize datasets used for target evaluation (eg, TCGA, DepMap, GTEx, etc.)
  • Strong coding skills in either Python (preferred) and/or R
  • Background in bioinformatics - experience working with RNA-seq and other NGS data
