About the role:
The Research, Senior Associate is responsible for managing and performing scientific research, development, and testing of new products, manufacturing processes, and raw materials. This role supports the Therapeutic Generation and Screening (TGS) team by generating DNA constructs for expression, purification, and cell line generation, utilizing advanced molecular biology and automation techniques.

How you will contribute:

  • Senior Research Associate I will support the Biologics Generation and Analytics (BGA) team of Takedas Global Biologics Department with demonstrated skills in molecular biology and automation.
  • Independently set up high throughput cloning and automation to assemble and generate DNA constructs for protein generation across multiple projects
  • Collaborate effectively with internal specialists in automation, next generation sequencing, and project team members from different therapeutic areas
  • Perform complex experiments within project scope, implement new methods, and provide novel solutions to existing hardware or software
  • Prepare and present technical information at department meetings
  • Maintain good documentation via electronic lab notebooks and databases
  • Act as an advisor to lower level professionals and review their work
  • The Senior Research Associate will work independently to design and generate DNA constructs to be used for different projects.
  • The position will entail extensive use of automation for molecular cloning and plasmid DNA preparation.
  • Independently sets up high throughput cloning and automation to assemble and generate DNA constructs to advance protein generation for multiple projects across many therapeutic areas.
  • Works collaboratively and effectively with internal specialists in automation, next generation sequencing and project team members from different therapeutic areas.
  • Independently performs complex experiments within a project scope, implements new methods and novel solutions to existing hardware or software and is familiar with current literature.
  • Prepares and presents technical information for presentation at department meetings.
  • Maintains good documentation via electronic lab notebooks and databases.

Skills & Qualifactions

  • MS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 1+ years relevant experience, or BS with 3+ years relevant experience
  • Applies molecular biology techniques independently, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and cloning.
  • Experienced in biochemistry with the ability to perform assays and analyze biological properties of compounds.
  • Skilled in automation and familiar with scripting and operating liquid handlers like Lynx, Tecan, or Hamilton.
  • Proficient in cloning techniques such as Seamless, Gibson assembly, or Golden Gate.
  • Capable of conducting flow cytometry assays and understanding their applications in research.
  • Experienced in gel electrophoresis and DNA sequencing, contributing to comprehensive molecular analysis.
  • Skilled in cell culture techniques, maintaining and experimenting with cell lines under minimal supervision.
  • Understands the drug discovery process, applying knowledge to develop new pharmaceutical compounds.
  • Demonstrates technical writing skills, capable of documenting experiments and findings clearly.
  • Familiar with DNA sequence analysis software such as SnapGene or Geneious Prime.
  • Able to design DNA constructs for cloning and primer design effectively.
  • Experienced in handling detailed tasks and maintaining focus on project objectives.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$86,500.00 - $135,960.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained , certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
