The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of MR imaging,and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in MR imaging research. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. We seek candidates with a strong background in MR imaging sciences and at least 4 years of post-PhD experiance. Development experience in both MR imaging and MR spectroscopy is highly desirable. MRI research experience in an academic setting with demonstrated skills along with prior publications in the field of MRI research, and the ability to contribute to large studies, is preferred.
Responsibilities may include the ability to work independently on the development and application of advanced metabolic MR imaging and Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) MR imaging biomarkers for monitoring early pathological changes and treatment response in neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. As part of this endeavor, the position holder will be involved in image acquisition at pre-clinical (9.4T Bruker scanner) and/or clinical MRI scanners (Siemens 3T and 7T terra whole body scanners), post-processing, and analysis of imaging data. Candidates with previous experience in clinical and/or preclinical MR imaging and proficiency with MATLAB programming language are encouraged to apply. The individual will also supervise/assist members at Penn and outside, including graduate students, write research papers and grant proposals, and present results at scientific meetings.
