Job Description

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated scientist to support the development of in vitro neuronal activity-based assays for psychiatry drug discovery. The successful candidate will work with electrophysiological and high content imaging technologies to assess neuronal function, contributing to target validation and compound profiling studies. This role is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team focused on investigating synaptic and circuit dysfunction in psychiatric disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in vitro neuronal activity assays using a variety of technology platforms
  • Maintain and differentiate primary and hiPSC-derived neuronal cultures
  • Perform in vitro and/or ex vivo electrophysiology experiments
  • Independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner and keep detailed experimental records
  • Demonstrate strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Communicate findings to cross-functional teams
  • Maintain experimental equipment

Qualifications
  • BachelorsDegree, Masters Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 3-5+years (BS) or 0-2+ years (MS)of experience
  • Hands-on experience with neuronal culture
  • Experience with electrophysiology and brain circuits
  • Enthusiasm for performing lab-based research to drive discovery efforts in neuropsychiatric disorders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced research environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with electrophysiology or imaging-based techniques
  • Completed courses focused on disorders of the nervous system
  • Prior experience in Drug Discovery, particularly in Psychiatry
