Contributes to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Utilizes expertise in cell culture and protein production to accelerate the progression of our discovery and development programs. Supports material generation and characterization to support in vitro and in vivo studies to advance projects from discovery to development

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Bring in, evaluate, and establish technologies to enhance protein production capabilities including high throughput approaches

  • Optimize protein expression systems to maximize production titer and desired product quality

  • Support and meet timeline for production of a wide variety of proteins, including antibodies, antigens, enzymes, protein complexes, and membrane proteins

  • Perform small to large scale recombinant protein expression in mammalian (i.e. HEK, CHO), E. coli, and/or Baculovirus expression systems and maintain cell culture

  • Collaborate with other researchers in BioTherapeutics to design protein expression constructs and the appropriate cloning strategies

  • Coordinate with external CROs for gene synthesis and cloning

  • Collaborate with Informatics to establish and continuously improve tools that aid in construct design, registration, and tracking

  • Work closely with other members of the internal expression team to evaluate and optimize construct expression and inform on initial production strategies

  • Conduct data analysis and maintain excellent records, such as in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs)

Proactively communicate results to collaborators and teams

Requirements:

  • BS with 3+ years experience in Protein Expression, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture for recombinant protein expression, familiarity with mammalian, E. coli and/or Baculovirus systems is desired

  • Familiarity with automated liquid handlers and bioreactor systems

  • Knowledge of molecular biology and stable cell line generation

  • Knowledge of small-scale protein purification and analytical methods

  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment to contribute to multiple projects

  • A self-motivated individual with excellent record keeping and written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $100,000.00 to $126,667.00 . Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
