Job Details:

Purpose

To hire a Research Associate for the Anslyn Lab with experience in synthetic chemistry, solid phase peptide synthesis, and orthogonal chemistries. This hire will also be a mentor to both graduate and undergraduate students in the Anslyn Lab.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible in conducting research related to synthetic chemistry, solid phase peptide synthesis, labeling peptides for single molecule fluorosequencing, and orthogonal chemistries for sequential selective amino acid labeling

  • Responsible for chemical safety, environmental health, occupational safety programs

  • Responsible for various types of laboratory equipment and materials and procedures used in the laboratory

  • Responsible for the evaluation, selection and application of research techniques in Organic Chemistry

  • Participate in lab meetings, and give lab presentations from the compiled data

  • Responsible in sharing lab tasks


Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Chemistry required

  • Experience, knowledge and use of chemistry and/or scientific equipment ordinarily used in college laboratory work

  • Experience, knowledge and use of NMR, UV-vis Spectrometer, SEM, TEM, and HPLC

  • Experience in synthesizing nanoparticles using supramolecular assemblies

  • Able to collaborate and communicate well

  • Manage day-to-day activities

  • Learn and implement new techniques in a research project setting

  • Assist with coordination and compiling of information for presentations and publications

  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a research laboratory for more than 3 years. Be involved in a research project that uses synthetic chemistry, solid phase peptide synthesis, labeling peptides for single molecule fluorosequencing, and orthogonal chemistries for sequential selective amino acid labeling.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
