Associate Scientist - Upstream Process (Onsite- Seattle, WA)
We are seeking an Associate Scientist- Upstream Process for a global pharmaceutical client. The focus of this role is to support process development, production, and characterization of early and late-stage viral vectors (lentiviral vectors and/or adeno-associated viruses). This position will be providing technical subject matter expertise with internal and/or external development and manufacturing collaborators for activities including tech transfer, process characterization, and pre-clinical or clinical process lifecycle management.
This is a 40-hour-per-week, 12-month contract (extensions possible), 100% onsite role in Seattle, WA.
This is a W2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and a 401K are offered.
Responsibilities:
Design, execute, and troubleshoot upstream development experiments supporting next-generation LVV production
Identify, onboard, and develop novel upstream technologies in collaboration with internal and external partners. Provide experimental design and executional support to team members
Support cross-functional development efforts e.g. downstream process development, high-throughput process development
Generate representative crude harvest material to support downstream development activities
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebook and documentation
Summarize and present data in group meetings and contribute to group discussions and team strategy. Author technical reports and study memos.
Requirements:
2+ years of hands-on upstream experience
Experience with suspension culture of mammalian cells in shake flasks and small stirred tank bioreactors
Experience with transient transfection operations to produce viral vectors (e.g. adeno-, retro-, lenti) including successful transfer for GMP manufacturing is preferred
Hands-on process development experience
Ability to design experiments with design of experiment (DOE) approaches, perform experiments, and interpret the results using statistical software (ex. JMP)
Experience with single-use technologies is preferred.
Bachelors Degree in biological or chemical engineering, biochemistry, or bio-related field
