Job Description:

This individual is responsible for performing tasks related to Cell Culture Development (CCD) and Purification Development (PD) and may assist with Analytical Development (AD) activities with minimal supervisory direction. This includes laboratory-based studies or execution of assays. They may serve as study director for a lab study and may act as a final reviewer for protocols and reports. They are expected to provide recommendations for study designs and project estimates, vetted by their peers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execution of lab studies and analytical assay work.

  • Performs execution of routine and non-routine lab studies / analytical work according to SOPs with minimal supervisory input.

  • Qualified to perform and plan RCA work.

  • Designs experiments using the principles of DOE.

  • Expected to have an advanced understanding of the theory behind lab studies and methodology.

  • Writes and reviews study protocols and reports.

  • Analyzes data using Lonza software and explains results and their impact.

  • Participates in regular safety audits and area 6S activities and performs periodic review of documents.

  • Represent MSAT Lab on Global, internal and external project teams. Provides regular updates on study related progress and may exert influence and decision-making in customer calls.

  • Follows all training and policy guidelines established for the facility as well as all cGMP requirements when applicable.

  • CCD: Execution of Satellite runs, scale down models, LIVCA, new equipment evaluations, Cell culture separation strategies, harvest hold and other process characterization studies associated with mammalian cell culture.

  • PD: Buffer specifications and stability, filtration studies, CCD linked work.

  • Troubleshooting/deviation support.

  • Familiarity with routine Analytical Assays, method development, bringing in new technologies and methodologies.

  • Experienced in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture; Advanced knowledge of scale up and mass transfer, bioreactor operation; intermediate understanding of filtration; proficient in statistical analysis.

  • Experienced in chromatography and filtration; expertise in protein structure, scale up, UF/DF, virus filtration; intermediate knowledge of statistical data analysis.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in life sciences or relevant field.

  • Lab bench work and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) experience.

  • Ensure compliance to EHS policies and guidelines applicable within the department. Observe safety practices in job tasks and work areas.

  • Ability to analyze problems, practices or procedures in order to define the problem and recognize alternatives and their implications.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data to propose improvements.

As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this position is $95,000 - $153,000. We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities; while also allowing for differentiation on performance based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at the company between the lower and the middle part of the applicable range. We tailor our offers within the range based on job-related factors, including organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic area and the selected candidates experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and/or communication skills and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. This range is only inclusive of base salary, and base pay is just one component of Lonzas total compensation package for employees. Full-time employees are eligible to receive a performance-related bonus, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, an employee assistance program, paid time off (PTO), and more.
