Job Summary

We're looking for a Senior level programmer with experience with U2 databases (UniVerse, UniData). Tasks will include analysis, programming, and support for our existing UniVerse database and CISPUB system. Other tasks include database administration including upgrades, creation, and administration of files. Some programs require interfacing programs with Unix / Linux commands. We also need someone who knows how to interface U2 with Visual Basic .NET Programming for new and existing applications. We distribute books for 130+ presses. Ideally, we would like the candidate to have experience coding for distribution and warehousing.

Responsibilities

  • Support and programming for new and existing applications, database administration.
  • Leads in the development of new systems, features, and tools. Solves complex problems and identifies opportunities for technical improvement and performance optimization. Reviews and tests code to ensure appropriate standards are met.
  • Leads or coordinates teams or projects for activities relating to software support and/or development.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • B.S. in Computer Science.

Experience:

  • 10+ years with U2 (UniVerse/Unidata) databases including administration.
  • 5+ years with Visual Basic .NET and interfaces with U2 databases.
  • Experience with coding for Distribution / Warehousing.

Certifications:

  • U2 certification.
  • Visual Basic .Net.
  • RedHat Linux.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Microsoft Office.
  • RedHat Linux administration.
  • SFTP set up and file transfer.
  • Accuterm Terminal Emulator.
  • Use of Agile Project Management with Jira.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid working environment, mainly remote but some on site work when necessary.
  • This position requires someone in the Chicago area including NW Indiana.
