Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

The selected Scientist or Sr. Scientist will support the Material Sciences Team by performing chemical conjugations of protein reagents and conducting physicochemical and biophysical characterization of these protein reagents. This work will support pharmacokinetics, immunogenicity, and biomarker assays across multiple technology platforms, including but not limited to flow cytometry, IHC, LCMS, and immunoassays. The individual will be responsible for collaborating and communicating across the organization to ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality characterized materials.

Perform routine chemical conjugations of biological reagents, following conjugation protocols and conducting routine protein purification.

Conduct routine physicochemical and biophysical characterization of biological reagents, following characterization protocols and performing routine data analysis.

Maintain analytical equipment, perform simple troubleshooting, ensure proper tracking/ordering of consumables, and schedule preventive maintenance.

Maintain a safe work environment by following all established safety and universal precautions guidelines and procedures.

Provide management and clients with reports/data as required, following departmental policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance by following GCP and GLP guidelines and adhere to specific Client policies and procedures outlined in training courses, work instructions, and Client SOPs.

Achieve objectives in a manner consistent with the Client Behaviors.

Enter data into inventory systems and ELN to support normal operations.

Prepare and make scientific presentations at internal meetings.

• Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
• Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years)
• OR Masters degree
• Sr. Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 4+ years)
• OR Masters degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years)
• OR PhD

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

• Operational and theoretical understanding of mass spectrometry, HPLC, UPLC, protein purification, and spectroscopic techniques.
• Good understanding of basic analytical concepts (concentration units, pH, calibration curves, QCs, compliance, etc.).
• Basic analytical lab operational skills (pipetting, balances, computer skills, etc.).
• Theoretical understanding of biolayer interferometry and SPR techniques is a plus but not required.
• Theoretical understanding of immunoassays: ELISA, ECL, EIA, RIA, Western Blot, immunogenicity assays, cell-based assays, receptor assays is a plus but not required.
• Experience in biochemistry and cell biology as related to protein modifications is a plus but not required.
• Basic understanding and experience with automated liquid handling platforms is a plus but not required.
• Ability to read and follow method or research protocols.
• Ability to write concisely to record all pertinent data in a lab notebook.
• Experience with LIMS systems for sample processing, data handling, and archival.
• Ability to multitask.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrate scientific/technical proficiency.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently.
