Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our St. Louis, MO team. This role involves performing routine in vivo study activities in accordance with study protocols, regulatory guidelines, and company SOPs. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills in laboratory animal handling, test article administration, specimen collection, and data documentation. A strong commitment to animal welfare, laboratory safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced research environment is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform study activities as assigned, following study protocols, Inotiv SOPs, and other applicable laboratory or company procedures.
  • Perform various routine in vivo techniques including animal identification, clinical observations, restraint, animal randomization, and test article administration (including but not limited to gavage, dermal applications, IV, IP, and subQ), as well as specimen collection.
  • Accurately perform basic laboratory calculations and measurements.
  • Successfully carry out all study activities in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively with all team members in a time-sensitive manner.
  • Demonstrate competency in the use of relevant computer systems, including electronic in-life data collection systems.
  • Clearly and accurately document study activities in accordance with Inotiv requirements for written and electronic data recording and data integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable USDA regulations, the Animal Welfare Act, facility Animal Care and Use Committee requirements, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
  • Maintain confidential information in accordance with Inotiv corporate policy.
  • Interact with clients, other employees, and the community in a professional manner.
  • Support and participate in other company initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in the use of common laboratory instrumentation, including pH meters, analytical and standard balances, stir plates, homogenizers, sonicators, water baths, freezers, and refrigerators.
  • Effective organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently within a matrixed team structure under tight timelines.
  • Understand the importance of following all required safety procedures, including the use of PPE, and proper chemical storage and disposal.
  • Demonstrate Inotiv Core Values.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during the work week as assigned.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Capable of moderate physical activity, including frequent walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods, carrying, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required.
  • Manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment and calculators/computers.
  • Work is normally performed in an office or laboratory environment.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in biological sciences.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician certification (ALAT, LAT, or LATG).
  • 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of related education and required work experience will be considered.

Physical Activity and Working Conditions:

  • Work is typically performed in an office or laboratory setting.
  • Requires moderate physical activity with frequent standing, walking, and repetitive hand and finger movements; reaching and lifting 1050 pounds.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations requiring strict safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
  • Use of PPE is required (e.g., gloves, dust mask or respirator, safety glasses).

This position may be offered at different levels based on the candidates education and experience. The salary range will be adjusted accordingly to reflect qualifications.
