Formulation ChemistJob Description
We are seeking a skilled formulation chemist to develop and refine chemical formulas for urethanes, epoxies, silicones, coatings, and related materials. This role involves conducting application testing and quality control tests to ensure products meet customer specifications, scaling up production processes, and providing technical support to resolve customer issues.
Responsibilities
+ Develop chemical formulas for urethanes, epoxies, silicones, coatings, and related materials.
+ Perform application testing and quality control tests to ensure products meet customer specifications.
+ Operate application testing equipment such as universal testers, dispersers, viscometers, and durometers.
+ Collaborate with the production team to scale up the production of new or specific formulas.
+ Assist technical support groups in resolving customer issues and providing solutions.
+ Complete technical data sheets detailing the formula, production process, and quality control checks.
+ Manage multiple projects weekly, including formula development and testing applications.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in formulation chemistry, particularly with urethanes, epoxies, and silicones.
+ Ability to develop formulas for larger applications such as tires, molds, and castings.
+ Skill in scaling up formulas into production and setting quality control parameters.
+ Competence in troubleshooting technical issues during manufacturing processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of foam technology and coatings chemistry.
+ Experience in physical chemistry blending and product development.
+ Understanding of toluene diisocyanate.
Work Environment
The role involves working in a chemistry lab to develop formulas using various instrumentation, as well as performing administrative tasks in the office related to each project. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30/4:30 p.m., and requires collaboration with every level of the organization.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
