Your Contribution

  • Development
  • Plans and manages the implementation of development projects or is responsible for the work package development of new products, product variants, and the required new manufacturing processes, including the necessary basic research.
  • Plans the individual development phases/work packages of the projects independently in coordination with the project manager regarding scheduling and costs, and in accordance with the stage-gate process. They are responsible for their proper, timely, and budget-compliant implementation up to series production. Observes applicable guidelines and laws (compliance, environmental, occupational safety, etc.).
  • Participates in the selection of external service providers and suppliers, their qualification, and monitors their performance in the development process.
  • Designs and specifies the equipment and production lines required for new products and manufacturing processes and is responsible for their commissioning on time, within budget and in the correct manner.
  • Creates laboratory setups, builds functional models and prototypes according to customer requirements in collaboration with various departments.
  • Designs the measurement technology required for the product in collaboration with the Measurement Technology team, Application Engineering, and Quality Assurance.
  • Designs and specifies the components, equipment, and production lines required for new products and manufacturing processes and is responsible for their timely, budget-compliant, and proper commissioning.
  • Creates design and process FMEAs and the required validation documentation in collaboration with Quality Assurance/QM and the project team.
  • Responsible for the qualification and certification, including documentation, of newly developed products and processes in accordance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485 / MDR (Medical), and DO160 (Aviation).
  • Transfers development results to production as part of a pilot series supervised by the project team; transfers processes and systems to Production Engineering as part of the production handover.
  • Supports Production Engineering in the creation of process and manufacturing instructions, as well as Quality Assurance in process validation and the creation of test specifications and product specifications.
  • Supports Application Engineering and Sales during the quotation phase with product calculations for new projects and product variants and as a consultant during customer visits upon request.
  • Operations
  • Supports production plants worldwide in developing problem solutions upon request.
  • Supports continuous improvement measures at production plants worldwide upon request.
  • Supports Quality Assurance in processing complaints. Plans, coordinates, monitors, and documents the necessary test series.
  • Supports Global Purchasing in the selection and qualification of strategic suppliers and obsolescence management.
  • Technology Monitoring
  • Continuously informs and researches the latest technology and development trends through relevant literature, electronic media, and attendance at trade fairs and seminars.
  • Monitors the competition and, upon request, conducts investigations into competitor products.

Your Profile

  • Master's degree in physics / electrical engineering / mechanical engineering / materials engineering or science (or comparable), possibly with a doctorate ; 0 years of experience ; interest in the development of optoelectronic/mechatronic systems and processes (lasers, optics, fiber optics, electronics, mechanical design) desirable, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in physics / electrical engineering / mechanical engineering / materials engineering (or comparable) ; 2-3 years of experience in the development of optoelectronic/mechatronic systems and processes (lasers, optics, fiber optics, electronics, mechanical design) desirable
  • Strong technical acumen, problem solving, self-motivated and independent.
  • Effective communication skills: listening, writing, speaking and oral presentations.
  • Able and willing to work with others on a team.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Due to the nature of work performed at this facility, US Person status may be required.
