Job Description
100% onsite in Maplewood, MN
Interviews: First round of interviewing: Phone call. Second round: Onsite
Shift: Primarly 1st shift | Day/ afternoon/ or midnight shift, as needed (roughly 3-5 days per month)
PPE: Safety Glasses, gloves
Possible Exposure to Irritants/Sensitizers: Epoxies
Must have fine motor skills/dexterity as the candidate will be working with small objects
Job Description Summary
Prepare routine and Client samples for analysis via SEM and AFM analysis using ultramicrotomy, ion milling, and other conventional techniques.
Operating SEM and AFM and collecting data.
Complete basic image processing and data analysis.
Organize generated data into communicable reports.
Support product development engineers through physical property and optical testing/characterization, sample prep.
Run coverage, day/ afternoon/ or midnight shift, as needed (roughly 3-5 days per month)
Preferred Qualifications (Would like to have):
Knowledge of, and experience with high resolution SEM imaging of a wide variety of materials (ex. metals, silicon, polymers).
Knowledge of, and experience operating the AFM, optimizing scans for non-routine samples, and comfortable with routine maintenance.
Familiarity with SEM and AFM sample preparation techniques such as ultramicrotomy and ion milling.
Familiarity with complementary surface characterization and microscopy techniques (compound, confocal, interferometer, etc.)
Experience with programming languages or image analysis software like ImageJ, etc (python, Matlab). Image processing and image analysis software.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines and demonstrates flexibility for changing priorities
Demonstrates a strong work ethic, self-motivated, organized and interested in learning
Strong observational and documentation skills.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills (written and verbal)
Creative problem-solving skills.
2 years experience working in optical metrology lab
