About the Hiring Group

The medicinal chemistry team within the Center for Drug Discovery supports client needs by conducting hit-to-lead and lead optimization. We integrate medicinal chemistry into larger projects focused on drug discovery and development, including computational chemistry, in vitro assay development and HTS screening, in vivo behavioral pharmacology, ADME/PK bioanalytics, and regulatory support.

We have an immediate need for a Medicinal Chemist to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding team. We are on the lookout for a highly motivated and organized individual who is eager to dive into the synthesis of monomers, building blocks, peptides, and oligonucleotides. In this exciting role, the candidate will design and develop innovative ligands to address a range of biological challenges, including kinases, G protein-coupled receptors, ion channels, and antimicrobial targets.

This position is a two-year term assignment with potential for annual renewal.

What You'll Do

In this role, the candidate will support experimental design and carry out compound synthesis independently or collaboratively. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate execution of studies, maintaining thorough records, analyzing data, and contributing to manuscript preparation for publication. The individual will also assist with grant applications, laboratory operations, and the training of junior staff. Additional duties include presenting research at conferences, reviewing scientific literature and patents, and other tasks as assigned by the principal investigator.

What You'll Need

  • Ph.D. in synthetic peptide chemistry or a related discipline field of study
  • Proven expertise in solid-phase peptide and oligonucleotide synthesis.
  • Well-demonstrated and extensive experience with a variety of chemical reactions.
  • Proficiency in utilizing RP-HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, and chiral separation techniques.
  • It is highly desirable to understand cell cultures and/or biological assays.
  • Desirable to possess knowledge of basic computational techniques.
  • Adept at working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in English.
