About the Department of Social Medicine

Position Summary:

The Senior Research Associate leads and conducts in-depth qualitative data analysis for complex research projects, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Key responsibilities include managing data coding, transcription, and interpretation, and creating clear research reports, manuscripts, and executive summaries to support informed decision-making.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead advanced qualitative data analysis initiatives using established research protocols and analytical frameworks to ensure methodological integrity and consistency across complex, multi-phase research projects
  • Execute sophisticated data analysis procedures including qualitative coding, transcription management, and systematic interpretation of research findings to support evidence-based decision making
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive research deliverables including manuscript preparation, analytical reports, and executive summaries that communicate complex findings to diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Maintain research project continuity by applying specialized knowledge of existing data collection protocols, methodological approaches, and analytical standards to preserve research validity
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams to coordinate project timelines, ensure deliverable quality, and support grant-funded research objectives within the Department of Social Medicine
  • Manage independent research operations including remote work coordination, resource procurement, and timeline adherence to meet critical project milestones and funding requirements

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science or closely related field
  • Master of Public Health (MPH) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years of specialized research experience in public health research coordination and qualitative data analysis, with demonstrated expertise in grant-funded research environments
  • Advanced research proficiency including qualitative coding, transcription management, multi-phase analysis, and methodological consistency across complex, ongoing projects.
  • Experience in health program evaluation, including survey development, data analysis, and results dissemination to academic and professional audiences.
  • Technical expertise in research software such as Microsoft Office, NVivo, Qualtrics, Dedoose, and confidential systems like Maxient, with strong adherence to research compliance protocols.
  • Effective project coordination with a proven ability to manage multiple research initiatives, prepare manuscripts, and produce reports for varied audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across sectors and with diverse stakeholders on health-related initiatives.

Department HCOM - Social Medicine Pay Rate

The approved hiring range for this position is $19.38 to $22.00 per hour. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position.
