Areas of Focus Materials/component testing and qualifications Vendor qualifications, audits, including change in their processes or equipment. Failure Analysis & Foreign Material Identification Material Quality Control, Pre-shipment Verification, and Nuclear Dedication Responsibilities Ensure compliance to SOP, protocols, safety policies, methods, or other procedures with government rules and regulations. Analyze, evaluate, and develop requirements for new or modified test equipment, methods, processes, and procedures. Prepare samples, standards, and solutions using industry standard and in-house methods. Perform material validations per industry methods and/or internal specifications. Write, revise, and issue material and test specifications. Operate all material, chemical, and measurement laboratory instruments for materials analysis. Attend laboratory equipment training and conduct cross-training for other Technology personnel. Clearly communicate technical information and project status through written and oral manner. Support failure investigations of ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, polymers, material analysis, and root-cause identification and recommend material improvements to address. Effectively collaborate with colleagues on laboratory techniques, sample preparation, instrumentation, data analysis, documentation, and safety. Visit vendors and/or manufacturing sites, assist in engineering audits, test procedure training. Mentor coops providing training on lab associated SOP and work instructions. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications BS in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Engineering 1-5 years practical experience Knowledge of current methods, procedures, standards, and instrumentation relating to material testing Knowledge in metals, acids, fibers, elastomers, and plastics Ability to occasionally handle weight of 40-50 lbs and infrequent (temporary) exposure to temperature (120-160 F) and humidity in high temperature chambers. if you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
