Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

PhD in Anthropology or a closely related discipline by date of hire;

Strong research background in biological/forensic anthropology, including a record of peer-reviewed publications;

Experience working with willed body donation program for forensic anthropological purposes

Experience teaching workshops geared towards law enforcement and mediocolegal investigators;

Experience conducting forensic anthropological analyses.

Preferred Qualifications

Administrative and/or laboratory management experience;

Experience writing standard operating procedures;

Experience with TXEVER;

Research focus in forensic anthropology, skeletal biology, and/or human osteology that allows the applicant to take advantage of the decomposition facility, the documented modern human skeletal collection, and other FACTS laboratory resources; and

Experience conducting histomorphometry and working with computed tomography images.

Job Description

The Department of Anthropology at Texas State University invites applications for a Laboratory Manager for the Forensic Anthropology Center (FACTS). This is a full-time staff position with a twelve-month appointment beginning as soon as possible. FACTS is a multifaceted center that encompasses a willed body donation program, an outdoor decomposition facility, a processing laboratory, and a fully equipped research laboratory with a large modern human skeletal collection. Job Duties

The responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager will be oversight of activities at the laboratories/facilities associated with FACTS, assist with the facilitation and coordination of research at FACTS laboratories, and participate in medicolegal casework as needed. The Laboratory Manager will also assist the director in fostering relationships between FACTS, law enforcement, and the local community, the development and enforcement of FACTS SOPs and best practices and organizing and teaching FACTS workshops and outreach activities.
