Baptist Medical Center is currently hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team at the Baptist Emergency Department - Oakleaf. This role offers flexible scheduling with coverage needed on weekday evenings, nights, and weekends. Baptist ED Oakleaf is a 24-hour free standing Emergency Department. This candidate will be working as a Generalist with minimal blood banking required. This candidate will have the opportunity to work in a smaller scale lab to fine tune their skills and knowledge as a Medical Technologist. This candidate must be comfortable working both independently and with a smaller team of no more than 10 team members.
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist II, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining expertise and perform technical, specimen collection/processing, LIS, general department, and clerical functions in one or more laboratory sections.
- Maintaining records of performance as defined in the laboratory's general and sectional policy and procedure manuals.
- Maintaining records of performance as defined in the SOP manuals.
- Instructing new employees and students.
- Supervision by Director and Section Supervisors, however, can perform all responsibilities of this job description without on-site supervision.
