Chemours is seeking a **Principal Coatings Chemist** to join our growing **Titanium Technologies** team. This position will be available at the Chemours Discovery Hub in **Newark, DE** and report directly to the **Pigment Technology Manager** .
In this role, you will leverage a strong knowledge of coatings science to inform the next generation of titanium dioxide materials. You will drive innovation through research and development activities that span from building foundational scientific knowledge to executing short-term projects focused on new product development. This includes advancing the fundamental understanding of the impact of particle properties and their design on coatings applications, which is essential to our success.
Your experience in formulation techniques will enable connecting fundamental pigment properties to their use in coatings applications. You will collaborate with R&D scientists and technicians to direct experiments, analyze data, and develop scientific testing methodologies, supporting our ongoing leadership in global science and technology research.
**The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:**
+ Spearhead novel coatings product development efforts in the Titanium Technologies business
+ Perform fundamental research highlighting the interconnections between pigment properties and coatings performance
+ Guide and mentor multi-disciplinary teams as you design, plan, and execute experiments that drive both scientific discovery and commercial success.
+ Engage directly with customers as a recognized company expert, providing technical leadership in high-stakes collaborations.
+ Collaborate with project managers, technical staff and cross-functional teams to translate research findings in the commercial solutions
+ Analyze complex experimental data, translating findings into actionable strategy
+ Support scale-up activities and performance testing of the materials in the applicable target areas.
+ Apply broad knowledge and expertise of analytical techniques and interpret the results in order to conduct future research.
**The following is** **_required_** **for this role:**
+ Bachelors degree in Solid State Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Material Sciences, or related field.
+ 10+ years experience in coatings applications such as industrial, architectural, or other related coatings applications.
+ Proficiency designing experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions.
+ Demonstrated leadership and cross-functional collaborationwithin R&D and in commercial teams.
+ Strong commitment to safety and sustainability, with experience implementing SOPs and best practices for hazardous materials.
+ Proficiency in data analysis and technical writing.
**The following is** **_preferred_** **for this role:**
+ Ph.D. in Solid State Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Material Sciences, or related field and 5+ years experience in coatings applications.
