Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Clinical Laboratory Scientist Full-Time (on-site) San Jose, CA Schedule: 1:00pm-8:30pm ESSENTIAL DUTIES · Perform laboratory testing in compliance with PPFA policies, Title X, Federal and state licensing (CLIA and OSHA). Perform necessary duties to fulfill all testing requirements, from pre-analytical to analytical and post-analytical phases in a timely fashion. · Perform DNA amplification tests, Rh testing, and testing for research, as needed. · Report results to Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and other clinics. · Answer phones, look up results, enter orders and results in LIS, answer clinic questions as capable and appropriate or refer questions to Laboratory Manager as needed. · Assist Clinical Laboratory Manager to maintain adequate records for Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Proficiency Testing and other statistical data. · Perform proficiency testing with strict adherence to CLIA guidelines (proficiency tests are treated no differently than patient samples). · Follow corrective action procedures and documentation policies according to the Quality Assurance Plan. · Maintain inventory of all lab supplies and reagents NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES · Works with/supervises volunteers/interns as appropriate. · Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Ability to perform the duties described above. A typical means of acquiring those abilities would be: · Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (ASCP preferred) · Two years of recent experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a clinical laboratory setting.
