The Associate Scientist will work within the Drug Product Development & Delivery group, working independently and in conjunction with the development teams to support project needs within the cell and gene therapy group. The candidate will assist in experiment design and use lab instruments for cell therapy process development for early, mid, and late-stage new molecular entity (NMEs).
You will be responsible for:
Conceptualization/Creation Ideation and Execution
- Performing assigned scientific experiments with decreasing level of supervisor's assistance.
- Providing input and identifies problems with scientific experiments, analyses/tasks in related areas.
- Performing duties consistent with good laboratory practices.
Operations Management
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment including and analytical and other instruments.
- Assisting in developing recommendations for improving standard procedures.
Information Management and Communication
- Maintaining accurate record keeping and experimental data with the use of statistical packages and standard databases
- Drafting technical reports and contribute to information management, manuscripts, patent applications, etc.
- Performing technical analysis of the project data, including trending of data.
Project Management
- Communicating results to supervisor in a timely manner
- Supporting the work of project members to accomplish team objectives on time and within budget
- May place orders in purchasing systems or maintain supplies to proactively support projects
Qualifications
Education:
- BS/BA with 2 years experience OR M.S. with 1 year of experience in a relevant scientific discipline (Biological or Engineering Sciences) is required.
Required:
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Experience with sterile technique is required.
Preferred:
- Experience in CAR-T production/culture is preferred.
- Experience with mammalian cell cryopreservation/cryobiology is prefered.
- Experience working with cell-based instruments is preferred.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data from biophysical assays and design appropriate experiments.
- Working knowledge of flow cytometry
- Experience implementing and maintaining high quality standards for all aspects of work conducted including adherence to regulatory GLP/GMP, departmental, and safety guidelines
