Scientist - Early-Stage Pipeline Support
Job Description

Join a dynamic team as a scientist, supporting the early-stage pipeline of small molecule and protein therapeutics. Your primary focus will be on characterizing protein-small molecule interactions and protein-protein interactions using advanced techniques like SPR and BLI.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize protein-small molecule and protein-protein interactions using SPR and BLI.
  • Develop assays for hit characterization and ranking.
  • Conduct kinetic and affinity characterization binding assays using SPR instruments from Cytiva/Biacore and BLI instruments from ForteBio and GatorBio.
  • Devise and implement creative scientific research through laboratory experiments.
  • Plan detailed procedures for defined projects, including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results, and necessary resources.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret scientific data and results.
  • Provide regular updates, documentation, and communication on project results.
  • Collaborate with other scientists and stay current with the field of expertise, including literature and technology development.
  • Advise supervisors and colleagues in areas of expertise.
  • Participate in national and international scientific meetings.
  • Provide scientific results to support the generation of publications, patents, or regulatory submissions.
  • Mentor research associates and laboratory assistants.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in kinetic and binding affinity characterization using SPR and BLI instruments.
  • Proven track record of academic accomplishments, including peer-reviewed publications and patents.
  • Demonstration of good lab practices with particular attention to safety.
  • Clear understanding of binding experiments and related methods.
  • Proficiency in data fitting computer applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree OR Masters degree with 2 years of experience OR Bachelors degree with 4 years of experience.
  • Attendance at label-free workshops is preferred.
  • Experience with additional biophysical techniques like nanoDSF and TRIC/spectral shift.
  • Familiarity with liquid handling systems such as Bravo platform or ECHO acoustic dispenser.
Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite, working with advanced scientific instruments and technologies. The work environment is collaborative, fostering innovation and continuous learning. The scientist will engage with colleagues and mentors, contributing to a culture of safety and excellence.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
