Lab Technician, Chemistry Carthage College - 3.8 Kenosha, WI Job Details Part-time Estimated: $27.5K - $33.5K a year 18 hours ago Qualifications Mid-level Full Job Description The Chemistry Laboratory Technician supports the fast-paced operations of the teaching and research laboratories in the Department of Chemistry at Carthage College. Working under the guidance of the Chemistry Lab Manager, the technician assists in preparing laboratory materials, maintaining equipment and supplies, and helping to ensure a safe and well-organized environment for students and faculty. Assist in preparing and assembling materials, chemical reagents, solutions, and equipment needed for undergraduate chemistry laboratory courses, following all safety and chemical hygiene protocols. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and the Chemistry Lab Manager to determine laboratory setup requirements to meet laboratory and course needs. Distribute and collect laboratory supplies, glassware, chemicals, and equipment before and after lab sessions, restock supplies and maintain organized stockroom and laboratory spaces. Maintain accurate inventories of chemicals, supplies, and equipment, assist with procurement, receiving, and properly storage of materials Promote a culture of safety and responsibility by helping enforce laboratory safety standards, monitoring chemical hygiene practices, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory safety polices. Assist with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of laboratory instruments and equipment, including common chemistry instruments. Support the development, piloting, and improvement of instructional materials, including laboratory manuals, experiments, and instructional videos under faculty or Lab Manager directions. Assist in training and supervising student workers on proper laboratory techniques, safety procedures and equipment usage. Serve as a technical resource for faculty, staff, and students regarding labor protocols, procedures, and equipment operations. Perform other duties as assigned.
