Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated in vivo Scientist III to join a team of talented scientists committed to the discovery of innovative medicines to improve the lives of patients with cardio-renal-metabolic diseases at our R&D site in Ridgefield, CT. This position requires performing rodent studies to advance innovative and novel research programs in cardiometabolic diseases. This includes but is not limited to Liver Health and Chronic Kidney Disease. Experience applying in vivo principles to drug discovery programs is desired.

The main responsibilities of the Scientist III include independently developing, troubleshooting, and testing therapeutics in rodent animal models with minimal supervision, as well as investigation and implementation of new technologies to advance the field.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

+ Initiates and completes routine procedures in an independent and efficient manner; Troubleshoots effectively and solves scientific problems independently; Operates lab equipment and is independently responsible for maintenance

+ Design, execute, and analyze in vivo pharmacology studies in an independent and efficient manner, with minimal supervision

+ Supports development and validation of rodent models for cardiometabolic diseases with emphasis on liver and kidney diseases

+ Perform routine dosing (oral, IP, SC, IV), health monitoring, and sample collection in mice and rats

+ Maintain compliance with IACUC protocols; maintain detailed experimental notes and documentation; treat data with integrity

+ Communicate own work effectively orally and in writing; contribute to drafting protocols, procedures, and technical reports

+ Collaborate cross-functionally in a team science setting with colleagues in histopathology, in vitro biology, and on project teams

+ Independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field

+ Proposes new experiments/technologies based on science as well as overall understanding of drug discovery/development process; Demonstrates expertise in field and contributes to training technicians and junior level scientists

+ Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics; Write protocols, procedures, and technical reports; Provide input for scientific reports

+ Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies

**Requirements**

+ Masters Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Bachelors Degree with 7+ years experience in related scientific discipline; pharmaceutical, biotechnology company or CRO experience is highly desirable.

+ Proficient in rodent handling (oral, ip, sc, iv), blood sampling, dosing, health monitoring, and sample collection is required; surgical experience is a plus

+ Proven ability to develop, execute, and troubleshoot in vivo pharmacology models; experience in liver disease, portal hypertension, or dosing test articles is a plus

+ Proven problem-solving ability and scientific curiosity

+ Effective communicator (oral & written) and team player

+ Willingness to support weekend work as needed

+ Ability to operate laboratory equipment with independence

+ Ability to draft technical reports

+ Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills

+ Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and interpretation thereof

+ Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations

**Compensation** :

This position, Scientist III, offers a base salary typically between$90,000.00 and $147,000.00. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.For an overview of our benefits please click here. (
