Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist
SLR Consulting is seeking a Staff level Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist to be a part of the Glastonbury, Connecticut Land & Water team. This role will be a mix of field work (i.e., oversight of drilling, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling activities) and report preparation. We are looking for an individual with 0 to 3 years of experience in related fields.

We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. Responsibilities:
Field work associated with environmental investigations and sampling of various media (i.e., soil, groundwater, sediment)
Oversee subcontractors for remediation and investigation activities
Preparation of health and safety plans, work plans, and field equipment
Maintain and prepare soil boring logs, low flow logs, and other field documentation, accurate field notes and calibration of equipment
Ensure work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with company safety rules and applicable regulatory, industry, and other pertinent standards.
Multi-task and work concurrently on multiple projects
Coordinate day-to-day tasks with team members
Travel to client facilities to support project efforts
Physical Demands
Field work and travel are expected to be a part of this position. With or without reasonable accommodation, employees are expected to perform the following activities:
Perform field work at local and out-of-state job sites
Travel by airplane and car, including overnight travel
Work in inclement weather conditions
Frequently walk or climb stairs and conduct visual assessments or collect measurements at heights
Lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 35 pounds
Handle large items
Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or related field
0-4 years of experience in industry and/or consulting
Excellent written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills, including preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
Familiarity and experience working onsite in industrial facilities or understanding of industrial operations, large and small
Ability to work independently and on teams in a fast-paced consulting firm
Possess a valid driver's license
Willing to travel within the US and Canada by airplane and car, including overnight travel
Possess or have completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher training
Preferred Qualifications:
2-4 years of experience working in environmental consulting.
Experience conducting Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments.
Experience collecting stormwater, soil, and/or groundwater samples for laboratory analyses
Experience with ArcGIS or AutoCAD software
