REPORTS TO: High School Graduation Initiative Grant Project Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Project and Research Associate is a program-based position that will focus on the collection, analyze, and dissemination of data related to the High School Graduation Initiative as well as the various needs of the project. In addition, the Project and Research Associate will coordinate and convene the High School Graduation Initiative community partners.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain data records from the three Student Success Centers, grant community partners, and any additional High School Graduation Initiative sources.

2. Create surveys, assessments, questionnaires, and various templates to enable the staff within the Student Success Centers, as well as community partners, to collect all relevant data needed by Hartford Public Schools administrators and federal affiliates.

3. Provide information and/or Professional Development sessions to convey any data needs and/or updates to staff.

4. Develop data reports and updates for Ha1tford Public Schools administrators, grant reports for the federal government, and other reports, as needed.

5. Confirm the accuracy of all data and provide feedback for additional surveys and questionnaires, as needed.

6. Serve as a HPS-based liaison to the HSGI community partners to communicate the data needs of the program, including leading data-based meetings with the various partners.

7. Develop the Hartford Board of Education meeting agenda items and contracts for the grant-affiliated community partners.

8. Negotiate with community partners and federal contacts concerning the development of the scope of services and budget narrative for the HSGI.

9. Co-coordinate High School Graduation Initiative community partners on behalf of the High School Graduation Initiative staff and Hartford Public Schools.

10. Ensure that the community partners abide by the grant specifications, as well as their contractual agreements.

11. Assist in troubleshooting the issues that arise within the Student Success Centers.

12. Aid in the completion of the advisory period observations for Graduation Specialists.

13. Write policies for the HSGI staff and collaborate with the Project Director and Project Manager as to what the policies should entail.

14. Create and review budget spreadsheets to ensure the accurate placement and usage of the HSGI grant funds.

15. In collaboration with the Office of Talent Management and Finance Departments, submit various budget-related documents, as needed.

16. Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor's Degree in a research-based field.

2. Demonstrated knowledge of dropout prevention indicators.

3. Demonstrated prior experience with performing research related tasks and developing data reports. Prior experience working with federal and/or state-based grants preferred.

4. Demonstrated experience with managing budgets and willingness to collaborate with various departments at Hartford Public Schools.

5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

6. Effective organizational and time management skills.

7. Proficient with computers utilizing Microsoft Office products as well as other district databases.

8. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.

9. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with office staff, administrators, and other personnel.

10. Ability to be flexible with work schedule to meet the demands of the position.

11. Must be punctual and have a good attendance record.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: N/A

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month work year. Salary Grid: C485 ($53,377 - $63,301).
