- Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
- Berkeley, California
- Full Time
Berkeley Labs ( LBNL ) Molecular Biophysics and Integrated Bioimaging Division ( MBIB ) has an opening for a Research Associate to perform semi-routine research assignments, including the development of deep learning-based denoising frameworks and sub-tomogram alignment for cryo-electron tomography datasets, to support the analysis of the performance of various denoising algorithms. This role will assist with developing and testing segmentation-based tools for the alignment of X-ray tomography data.
This position has an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025.
What You Will Do:
- Test cryoCARE, IsoNET, deepDeWedge, and Topaz for denoising and missing-data compensation in simulated and experimental cryoET data.
- Run sub-tomogram alignment and averaging for reconstruction of 3D density on the datasets.
- Assist in developing segmentation-based tools for alignment of center-of-rotation and tilt of rotation axis in X-ray tomography data.
- Maintain an accurate and detailed scientific notebook of all numerical experiments performed and document results for a publication.
- Assist in developing spatial redundancy transformers for denoising.
