Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Associate- Seasonal for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering within the School of Engineering.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Conducts research on polymer matrix composites using techniques like DSC, TGA, electrical and EM radiation testing, and imaging.
  • Works on the formulation, processing, and testing of composites.
  • Records and analyzes data.
  • Helps with research papers and reports.
  • Works closely with faculty and team members on proposals and project documentation.
  • Follows safety and research guidelines.
  • Applies knowledge of polymer physics and materials science to support experiments and analysis.

FLSA Nonexempt Salary Details $40 - $42/hourly Offer Information

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant laboratory research experience.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of research principles.
  • Significant hands-on experience with composite materials, including characterization techniques such as DSC, TGA, SEM, XRD, and EM radiation evaluation.
  • Experience in plastics and immiscible polymer processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation and data analysis tools.
  • Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D.
