Akkodis is seeking a Scientist for a contract with a client in Waltham, MA. The candidate will independently design and execute synthetic biology experiments to support mRNA vaccine development and optimize gene synthesis workflows. Rate Range: $48/hour to 50/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Scientist job responsibilities include: Independently plan, design, and execute synthetic biology experiments to produce high-quality nucleic acid materials for mRNA vaccine development. Develop and optimize gene synthesis workflows, incorporating new technologies and collaborating with automation engineers for high-throughput processes. Utilize software tools for DNA design and NGS data analysis, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in experimental workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support target development, DNA template production, and quality control. Prepare technical reports and presentations and contribute to strategic discussions with stakeholders. Mentor junior scientists and support knowledge transfer, while maintaining meticulous lab records and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in synthetic biology and nucleic acid technologies. Extensive hands-on experience with oligo synthesis, gene assembly techniques (e.g., Gibson, Golden Gate), and NGS workflows. Proficiency in molecular biology software tools (e.g., Geneious, Benchling) and familiarity with automation platforms and scripting languages like Python or R.
