Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician will support the Product Development team by assisting in the development of new products in an industrial laboratory environment. This role focuses on emulsion polymerization and involves preparing high-quality prototype samples using laboratory-scale reactors and test equipment. The technician will work closely with scientists and other lab personnel to ensure projects are completed accurately, safely, and on time.

Job Description

  • Operate laboratory-scale emulsion polymerization reactors to conduct polymer synthesis based on provided formulations.
  • Measure and evaluate physical properties of polymer samples using viscometers, rheometers, particle size analyzers, and other instrumentation.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory testing equipment and ensure the lab environment remains clean, safe, and functional.
  • Accurately enter experimental data, maintain detailed records, and update project databases in a timely manner.
  • Communicate results and updates clearly with team members, scientists, and management.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain compliance with lab safety standards and chemical handling protocols.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to shift priorities based on project needs while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Shift: 8am - 5pm

Skills Required

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented laboratory setting.
  • Comfortable working in a structured environment with written procedures while remaining flexible to support experimental work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong sense of self-motivation, responsibility, and urgency.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, ideally in polymer synthesis and testing.
  • Hands-on experience with viscometers, particle size analyzers, rheometers, and other analytical instruments.
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals, operating mechanical equipment, and using computerized systems.
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks throughout the workday.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline,
  • OR Associate's degree with 6 months to 1 year of relevant laboratory experience,
  • OR High school diploma with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with laboratory control systems or data acquisition software is a plus.
