Summary
Sr Laboratory Technician
This position is responsible for managing and executing routine microbiological/ analytical evaluations of raw materials, in process items, finished goods, the factory production environment and processing systems, while adhering to Corporate Quality and Food Safety Requirements. As necessary, the Sr. Laboratory Technician supports the FSQ lab supervisor with daily activities of the laboratory. Assists FSQ Management in the maintenance of overall product quality and safety to ensure compliance with applicable regulations such as USDA, FSMA, SQF and Customer requirements
Responsibilities
Monitors all daily lab tech calibration records for accuracy and completion, as well as any calibrated services of equipment not performed by laboratory technicians (such as Vidas, product scales, HPLC, GC, etc.).
Assures all laboratory PM's as well as their required records are completed.
Performs any required service calls for equipment if necessary.
Monitors safety chain entries for accuracy, and assuring all required items have been completed
Monitoring the database for any potential issues/escalating items if necessary
Assuring all requested items are collected and retested-for extension in a timely manner
Communicating with other plants for any issues regarding product and sample testing
Maintaining the sanitation Listeria reporting in safety chain
Maintains the ATP/APC completion and sends scheduled swab area needed on a weekly basis.
Completes SQF and KPI reporting.
Maintain micro/chemistry sampling schedule and perform required chemistry/microbiological testing of materials/raw materials per established schedule or on an ad hoc basis
Assist the management with micro validation & extended run studies
Participate in projects as and when required.
Help Management team to prepare for SQF
Position may require extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications
Education: High school or equivalent. Post-secondary education in science preferred.
Years of Related Experience: 3- 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, interpret and communicate basic technical documents. Ability to learn about and operate standard laboratory equipment. Basic communication skills and interpersonal skills. Basic level proficiency in operating a PC. Basic math skills. Solid interpersonal and communication skills. HACCP certification preferred. Prior microbiology or laboratory experience preferred.
