Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

As a Quality Technician in the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing departments, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and monitoring manufacturing processes and products to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards. This full-time role is crucial for maintaining product quality, reducing defects, and ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying and resolving quality issues promptly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process, first article, final, and receiving inspections using standard measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of parts, assemblies, and finished products.

  • Carry out functional testing using gauges, test equipment, or specialized tools.

  • Accurately complete and maintain inspection records, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).

  • Assist in the preparation and revision of quality documentation such as work instructions, inspection criteria, and control plans.

  • Maintain calibration records and ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.

  • Monitor production lines for quality issues and support root cause investigations.

  • Enforce adherence to industry standards such as IATF and FDA requirements.

  • Ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements before shipment.

  • Participate in problem-solving initiatives using tools such as 5 Whys and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Support continuous improvement activities including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen events.

  • Communicate quality issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality-related issues.

  • Provide feedback and training to operators on quality standards and inspection techniques.

  • Assist in internal and external audits, including customer or third-party quality audits.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or technical certification in quality or manufacturing is preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient with measurement tools and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001 and statistical process control (SPC).

  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and analytical thinking.

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and quality management systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morristown, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.80 - $17.85/hr.
