Job Description
Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full-service finishing for aerospace in both commercial and defense applications.
Founded in 1976, Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012, and became part of the Aerostructures Division. As a defense contractor Protective Coatings Inc. is registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp and is fully compliant with all relevant facets of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.
Position Summary:
Candidates for a Level 3 Laboratory Technician position shall possess the skills and knowledge to perform all duties expected of a laboratory technician. Level 3 Laboratory Technicians shall review and approve laboratory procedures and test results, write or revise laboratory testing procedures, and will be expected to train or mentor other technicians. They shall be well versed in calculating concentration and chemical additions, be able to troubleshoot problems associated with chemical processing, and analyze and report test results to internal stakeholders, such as production and quality. A chemistry degree is preferred but not required to fill this position. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates of this position must have strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. As a condition of assignment, Level 3 Laboratory Technicians may be expected to access information and product controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or Export Administration Regulations. As such these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintaining regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arranged work schedule.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Wear and maintain proper personal equipment (PPE). Operator is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Sets up and conducts or directs chemical experiments, and analysis, using techniques such as spectroscopy, titrations, and physical or chemical separations.
- Calculate concentration and chemical additions following standardized formulas, or per customer specifications and/or internal procedures.
- Review and approve laboratory procedures.
- Review and approve laboratory test results.
- Write and revise laboratory testing procedures.
- Organize tank maintenance projects and schedules.
- Perform process control and solution control testing and monitoring, and recognize trends in data.
- From recorded data of tests performed, prepare technical reports, graphs, or charts that interpret test results.
