Golf Grounds Chemical Technician

Job Requirements Starting Pay Rate: $20.00 hourly Day Shift available There's no better time to get outdoors and join our team as a Chemical Technician! In this hands-on role, you'll help keep Turning Stone Resort's grounds and golf courses in top condition by applying fertilizers and chemicals, maintaining spray equipment, tracking inventory, and ensuring safety standards are met. You'll master everything from calibrating sprayers to reading chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets, lead small crews on special projects, and even pitch in with snow removal when the weather calls for it. Apply chemical & fertilizer applications to the resort grounds and/or golf courses as instructed. Assist in tracking chemical inventory usage. Perform routine safety inspections and maintenance on chemical spraying equipment. Maintain a working knowledge of safe mechanical operations for the calibration of various mechanical pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated sprayers and spreader equipment. Ensure chemical storage and mixing areas are in compliance with required regulations and safety standards. Ensure the safety of chemical handlers by making certain that policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Complete pesticide usage reports after every application. Provide leadership to small labor crews for special projects when directed by supervisor. Participate in snow plowing, shoveling and the operation of snow removal equipment to clear snow from roadways, lots, sidewalks and paths as necessary. Work Experience To be successful as a Chemical Technician , you'll need: A valid Driver's license is required. To possess or be able to obtain a state pesticide license within 3 months of hire. Experience in Turf and woody plant pesticide and fertilization is required. Knowledge of the plant ID, characteristics, and growth habits of a wide selection of annuals, biennials, and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants. General knowledge of chemical application equipment is required. To have knowledge and an understanding of pesticides and their labels. Position is subject to noise and electrical, mechanical, chemical, and explosive hazards. Must have completed training requirement as demanded by the state and federal government, including those required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 4 1 - 50 pounds.
