Job Description This position involves utilizing knowledge of various sample/specimen tube types to effectively process and ship specimens while supporting inventory management. Responsibilities include creating and quality-assuring prep kits for patients, accurately inputting patient data into electronic medical records and research databases, and employing laboratory techniques such as centrifuging, aliquoting, and pipetting for sample preparation. The role entails repetitive laboratory tasks, including the collection and documentation of tissues and biological specimens from various medical facilities, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations through de-identification of patient files and maintaining organized specimen storage. Responsibilities
- Collect tissues, body fluids, and other biological specimens from hospitals, clinics, and other patient encounter areas.
- Transport specimens to the appropriate research laboratories.
- Accurately document biological specimen collection information onto specimen collection forms.
- Ensure organized storage of specimens and maintain specimen records in the lab.
- Maintain de-identification of patient files and surgical reports in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide routine maintenance to laboratory equipment.
- File paperwork for all samples and manage human samples (urine, blood, fecal matter, saliva, etc.).
- Perform complex testing for blood, including serum and plasma separation and blood cell isolation.
- Follow regulatory processes for specimen collection.
- Proficiency in pipetting, centrifuging, and aliquoting techniques.
- Experience in a laboratory environment, with an Associates Degree in a relevant science and 2 years of lab experience or equivalent coursework.
- Bachelor's degree in science with lab experience is also acceptable.
- Experience working with blood samples, data entry, laboratory research, medical and clinical laboratory settings.
- Ability to multitask.
- Experience with PBMC and shipping processes.
