Job Description

As a Scientist, you will possess a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures and conduct complex analyses with increased independence. You will perform a variety of complex sample preparation and analysis procedures to quantitatively measure pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in various formulations and biological matrices. You will follow validated or experimental analytical procedures under periodic direct supervision, review and compile results, and compare data against SOP acceptance criteria, methodology, protocol, and product specifications. Additionally, you will enter data into databases and reports, and perform self-reviews of your data prior to QC submission.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a variety of cell-based assays to support early lead discovery programs using automation tools.
  • Execute primary screen assays designed to identify leads and support MedChem in identifying clinical candidates.
  • Effectively collate and interpret data systematically, making recommendations for next steps.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate ideas and results both verbally and in writing to a broad range of audiences.
  • Identify areas for streamlining workflows where warranted.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar.
  • Previous experience (comparable to 2+ years) providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • Experience with executing and analyzing data from high-throughput assays.
  • Proficient in strong data analysis skills and computer skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual able to multitask and follow directions.
  • Critical thinking and the ability to learn and apply troubleshooting techniques for automation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with liquid handling equipment and general plate handling automation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of automation and HTS instrumentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Must be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating weekend shifts according to business needs.
  • High aptitude for common computer programs (e.g., MS Office) and comfort in learning new software and hardware systems.
Work Environment

The position is a CRG Contingent role based in the United States. You will work in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed environment. The role requires flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Rotating weekend shifts may be required based on business needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.00/hr.
