The Opportunity:
Position duties includes conceiving and executing bioinformatic, laboratory, greenhouse, and field studies, regarding, but not limited to, preharvest sprouting and physiological and genetic causes of starch breakdown in development as causes of low falling numbers in wheat grain, mapping of tolerance in winter and spring wheat, developing molecular markers, analysis of phenotyping methods, and examining the regulation of alpha-amylase enzyme in wheat grain. Candidates should possess the skills to identify and define research problems, design approaches to test hypotheses, write and review protocols, analyze results, develop conclusions, and publish research results. Skills in organizing and analyzing data in R, performing bioinformatic analyses of genomic data, and performing mapping studies are particularly valuable. Research involves wheat seed biology and data analysis in R, but it is multidisciplinary and will apply principles of plant genetics, genomics, plant physiology, and genotype x environment interactions. Research will be presented at conferences, grower and/or industry meetings.
Additional Information:
Annual Salary: $55,000- $60,000| Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Crop Science, Biology or related field and at least two years of Post Ph.D. research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with wheat genomic analysis.
Experience of statistical computational methods.
Knowledge of seed biology.
Experience with Molecular Genetic Analysis.
