The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician Lead . In this role you will represent the Department of Laboratory Medicine and UW Medicine and play an important role in promoting our mission, values and goal of service excellence and patient safety. Under the direction of the Health Services Manager, you will provide leadership, establish work priorities and assign specific activities for technicians.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday, 9:45am - 6:15pm (No weekends and holidays).
LOCATION:
Primary location is at Roosevelt Clinical Lab. This position may need to rotate to Husky Health Center, UW Medicine South Lake Union, and Eastside Specialty Center clinical laboratories.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all the duties of a Clinical Laboratory Technician 2.
Provides leadership in the section. Under the direction of the Health Services Manager, establishes priorities in work to be done and assigning specific activities to technicians.
Resolve service related problems and communicates appropriately to the lab manager information regarding service issues.
Participates in new employee orientation and training; Provides feedback to staff to maintain optimum performance and high quality service.
Provides input to the supervisor and/or manager on employee performance and contributes to annual performance evaluations.
Identifies problems or potential problems in a timely manner and refers them to the HSM as necessary. Documents issues and events appropriately.
Assists with solving daily issues, such as equipment problems, provider order errors, scheduling staff and staff assignments;
Refers higher level or escalated issues to the HSM as directed.
Oversees operation of the laboratory which includes but is not limited to ordering supplies, scheduling preventive maintenance and housekeeping.
May perform minor maintenance on equipment; review and report the daily operational status of equipment, initiate repair service calls, and document malfunctions;
Assures quality assurance practices in the section including complete patient specimen identification, accurate specimen collection, correct data entry into Sunquest/ Epic, testing of PT samples and notification of critical results.
Retains records and procedure manuals.
Promotes UWMC Patients First Service Culture Guidelines and goals, the Dept. of Laboratory Medicine mission, service efficiency, and effectiveness.
Acts as a mentor and role model for CLT and and Phlebotomists. Promotes teamwork among lab staff AND clinic staff.
Perform related duties as required.
Support service and UW Medicine goals and high quality service through such activities as: participating in problem solving, demonstrating support for policies, sharing expertise, and contributing to project work and committees;
