Job Description The Franks lab looking for a motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow to join our bioinformatics team to study inflammation and fibrosis of the lung and other tissues using next-generation high-throughput sequencing data.

This role will work independently to analyze and interpret diverse genomics datasets, including bulk and/or single-cell sequencing (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics, etc). Responsibilities include testing, implementing, and standardizing analysis pipelines for sequencing and epigenomics analyses. Integrate genomics data with clinical metadata as available. Develop analytic techniques and computational methods as needed. Regularly report progress including oral presentation of results and manuscript writing and submission. Provide training and mentorship to junior level staff.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

+ Experience with next-generation sequencing data, especially single cell "omics" datasets

+ Significant experience (5+ years) working with scientific computing languages (such as R, Python), and /or high-performance computing clusters

+ Demonstrates interest and experience combining computational and experimental research, including demonstrated competency in scientific programming

+ Proficiency using R and/or Python

+ Thorough data collection, analysis and summary skills

+ Proficiency in statistics

+ Interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence

+ Understanding of basic molecular biology and possess working knowledge of modern techniques related to gene analysis and protein assessments

+ Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including next-generation sequencing strategies

+ Proficient written and oral communication skills

+ Proficient problem-solving and organization skills

+ Detail-oriented

+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

+ Ability to adjust priorities and initiate problem solving

+ Ability to quickly learn new software, languages, and technologies as necessary

**Required Education and Experience**

Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Genetics, Genome Sciences, Molecular & Cell Biology, or related field

Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.

**Preferred**

Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing.

**Compensation Range**

$77,968.80 - $116,937.60 per year

**Salary Information**

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
