Job Description
A leading carbon utilization company is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and enhance chemical processes that ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable production. The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and detail-oriented engineer with strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to operational excellence. Working collaboratively, the new hire will drive process reliability and performance by applying sound engineering principles while supporting continuous improvement and compliance across all production operations.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
Perform process simulations, material balances, and energy balances to support production improvements.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process upsets or quality issues.
Monitor and analyze process data to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards.
Prepare and update process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and technical reports.
Support scale-up of new chemical processes from pilot plant to full production.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, safety, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs, minimize waste, and improve sustainability.
Lead or support hazard analyses (e.g., HAZOP, What-If, FMEA) and ensure implementation of safety recommendations.
Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews and ensure proper documentation of process modifications.
Provide technical support during equipment commissioning, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
Train operations personnel on new or revised processes and safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements, including PSM standards.
Respond to emergency situations involving process deviations or safety concerns.
Maintain accurate records of process performance, incidents, and corrective actions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required; Master's preferred
2+ years of chemical process engineering or manufacturing experience
Experience with PSM (Process Safety Management) and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and reaction engineering
Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to proficiently speak and write English
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or in the field
Must be able to walk, bend, climb stairs, and access elevated platforms in industrial settings
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
Must be able to work in environments with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
Must be able to travel domestically or internationally as required by project needs
Must be able to respond to operational needs outside of standard business hours when necessary
