Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA
Salary: $120-140k base - Flexible for strong talent.

Our innovative biotech client is seeking a Process Development Engineer to join their team. This role will assist in the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of unit operations in upstream, downstream, or integrated processes.

Responsibilities:

• Support and execute plant and microbial cell culture activities, including aseptic technique, media preparation, and routine culture maintenance.
• Operate and interpret results from analytical instrumentation such as spectrophotometers, HPLC/FPLC systems, microscopes (light/fluorescence), and environmental sensors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (microbiologists, chemists, mechanical and automation engineers) to ensure seamless process integration.
• Draft and review process documentation, including SOPs, batch records, P&IDs, and technical transfer packages.
• Support scale-up and tech transfer from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring process robustness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct experimental design and data analysis for process characterization and optimization.
• Contribute to capital equipment selection, facility assessments, and validation planning.
• Operate within cleanroom and GMP-compliant environments, maintaining high standards of sterility and documentation.

Requirements:

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biology, or a related discipline.
• 710 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or laboratory R&D in biotech, pharmaceutical, food, or chemical industries.
• Demonstrated experience with a range of processes (e.g., fermentation, cell culture, filtration, chromatography, drying, microscopy, and analytical methods).
• Proficient in data analysis, experimental design, and technical reporting.
• Hands-on experience with cleanroom protocols and sterile technique.
