Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under

minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function

checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical

data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of

custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care. Assists

in covering other shifts when necessary.

  • Shift differentials are available for the following shifts: you must work 4 hours into the shift time to get the differentials (Monday - Thursday 3p - 11p = $3.50 per hour and 11p-7a = $3.75, Friday - Sunday 11p - 7a = $6.00 per hour, or Saturday - Sunday 7a - 3p = $4.00 per hour and 3p - 11p = $5.50 per hour)

Additional Job Description

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical

laboratory to equal 2 years.

Experience: Entry level skills. Meets competency-based criteria.

Licenses/Certificates: MT (ASCP) or equivalent, and MLT (ASCP) must be obtained within 1 year of hire date, Basic Life Safety (BLS)
