The Process Engineer will be responsible for process sustaining and continuous improvement on theproduction line, building Teslas commercial scale energy storage product. This position will be responsible for applying lean manufacturing principles to monitor yield, fallout, and critical parameters and drive necessary process improvements. Daily work will be highly cooperative in nature with regularly interactions with manufacturing engineering, new product introduction, quality engineering, equipment engineering, and production operators strong interpersonal skills are critical. The engineer will place a significant focus on troubleshooting and root causing test failures and fallout, including data collection and rework process development.
- Train associates on new or updated manufacturing instructions
- Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve process Cpk and product yield
- Execute experiments and analyze data under the direction of process engineers including but not limited to DOE, GR&R
- Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Setup and operate welding and joining processes for lab tests and perform welding experiments
- Interpret welding related requirements and troubleshoot welding problems
- Reviewing welding procedures, processes, and documentation
- Managing welding procedure qualifications and generating welding procedures to help the manufacturing and welding teams
- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or equivalent experience
- Design for Manufacturability experience, Poke Yoke, and elimination of risk with design recommendations
- Able to utilize structured problem solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D)
- Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematic
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal direction contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment
- Strong organization and record-keeping skills with strong attention to detail
- Knowledge in Fanuc Robot, WTC Weld Controller, Lincoln power source Power Wave (Desirable)
- Knowledge in Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), GMAW MIG/MAG, Destructive Test (DT), and Nondestructive Test (DT) (Desirable)
