Lab Technician

The primary role of a Lab Technician is to conduct routine medical laboratory tests, aiding in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This position typically operates under the guidance of a medical technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment.
  • Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using specialized mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Gather and record test data to create reports utilizing charts, graphs, and narratives.
  • Obtain specimens, and cultivate, isolate, and identify microorganisms for analysis.
  • Examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities and consult with a pathologist for a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are detected.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnosing and treating human injuries and diseases.
  • Competency in analyzing data and accurately documenting and recording results.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience is required in a clinical laboratory
  • Generalist experience with CORE lab, including Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urine analysis, and blood banking (blood banking is a plus but not mandatory).
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred.
  • MLT or Bachelor's degree, ASCP or AMT certification preferred but not required

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
