Food Scientist
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Food Applications Scientist with expertise in Dairy Flavors and Vegan Applications to join our team on a 1st shift schedule. The ideal candidate will focus on sample collection and coordination, with a strong application mindset rather than product development. A culinary degree is highly preferred. The role encompasses product development, flavor development, food formulation, product evaluation, validation, and new food application development.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and validate flavor, product, and food formulations.
  • Create and manage customer-driven projects to achieve formulation using new and innovative ingredients, cost reduction, product matching, flavor enhancement, flavor masking, and clean label improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define specific parameters, objectives, and timelines for projects.
  • Scale up formulas from kitchen/lab-scale environment to pilot plant and production.
  • Generate suggestions for improving work and develop innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Develop presentations tailored to target markets and prepare concepts for demonstrations for the Sales department.
  • Handle simple to complex flavor/product/food formulation projects efficiently and prioritize work activities for optimal time and resource management.
Essential Skills
  • Strong background in biology, chemistry, and food science.
  • Experience in R&D, new product development, and research & development.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including titration, pH testing, microbiology, and quality control.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and quality assurance (QA).
  • Skill in formula development and applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in quality inspections or lab testing and aseptic technique.
  • Potential consideration for candidates with less experience, though senior experience is preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment is primarily weekday-based, with overtime being rare and limited to 1 or 2 hours during the week. Weekends are extremely rare, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

This is a direct placement opportunity. Benefits will be provided upon hiring or before hand at candidates request.
