Product Development Engineer

SiLC is a deep tech company with an immediate opening for a full-time, on-site (in Monrovia, CA) Product Development Engineer. This person will be part of a dynamic and experienced team focused on building a revolutionary 4D sensing solution. Responsibilities include developing, characterizing, and validating electronic and optoelectronic hardware systems. The ideal candidate will have experience developing production-level hardware and embedded software. The role will require cross-functional interaction with other teams, including silicon photonics, laser, embedded systems, IC design, mechanical design, etc. The candidate should have strong communication skills to interface with our development team leads and senior management.

Responsibilities:
Support mixed-signal circuit board development, bring-up, debug, and transition to mass production.
Support development and verification of embedded software.
Collect, process, and analyze lidar system data to extract performance parameters, draw conclusions, and make improvements.
Participate in product development efforts including documentation, qualification, production ramp, etc.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support optoelectronic system integration and bring-up.

Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of industry experience.
Strong understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuit design principles
Hands-on experience designing testbenches, testing, and debugging hardware/software systems.
Programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
Familiarity with a range of lab instruments such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, etc.
Strong communication and technical writing skills for documenting design specifications and test results.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience bringing a hardware product to market.
Experience with PCB design and the ability to read complex circuit schematics.
Familiarity with design for test/manufacturing practices.
Familiarity with optoelectronic hardware and optical setups (lasers, lenses, fiber components, etc.).
Familiarity with lidar or FMCW radar concepts/technologies.
