The Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center Cancer is one of BMSs differentiated research platforms delivering innovative therapies to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of cellular therapies to harness the power of the immune system in treating hematologic malignancies, solid cancers, and autoimmune disease. More specifically, our discovery and translational scientists are focused on developing next-generation, engineered cell-based therapies. The team is committed to discovering and developing transformative therapies that harness the power of the immune system to improve patient outcomes.

BMS is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join the Cell Therapeutics Cell Sciences group in Seattle. The individual will be a member of the Cell Sciences team, focused on establishing and maintaining research cell banks with the objective of supplying research groups with critical reagents. The role is lab based requiring the candidate to play different roles within the group, as need dictates.

Position Responsibilities:

In the role as a Research Associate within Cell Sciences, the ideal candidate can perform the following:

  • Scale-up of mammalian cell line cultures in a variety of formats (static flasks, shaker flasks, other devices).

  • Cell line sourcing, expansion, testing, and banking

  • Generation of engineered cell lines (CRISPR, viral transduction, electroporation).

  • Flow cytometry (analytical and sorting).

  • Maintain an electronic notebook to document experimental design and results.

  • Collaborate effectively and cultivating positive and productive relationships across the BMS network.

  • Participate in maintenance of routine laboratory instrumentation and supplies.

  • Adhere to laboratory safety policies and practices.

Experience =

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

    • No experience necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline with at least 1 year experience in a relevant laboratory setting

  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and proper sterile technique.

  • Familiarity with genome engineering via transfection/transduction, (with CRISPR/Cas9).

  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, with frequent changes of priorities.

  • Planning skills to execute on multiple work streams and provide timely and prioritized results.

  • Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills to investigate technical and scientific questions.

  • Excellent communication skills working in a team focused multi-site environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.

  • Experience in western blotting, FACS, and /or NGS sequence analysis preferred.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $ 76,980.00 - $ 93,300.00 , plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
